GREATER THINGS FOR MANKATO
I came across this video today. It features Kris Allen from American Idol singing the song “God of this City”. It’s a great song and it’s cool to have Kris singing it. Let’s all hope and pray for greater things for Mankato, MN!
THANK YOU ALL THAT HAVE AND ARE SERVING OUR COUNTRY!
Thank you to all that served our country. America has been a great country because of your sacrifices. My father-in-law was awarded a Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam, I am proud of him and all those brave enough to defend America. In an age when it’s apparently become popular to bash America and go around the world apologizing for America, please know there are still people around that think America has been, and is a great country.
We have come to the defense of the people around the world, we have been one of, if not the most giving country in the world, and morals/principles, freedom and free market capitalism have made us a prosperous country in only a few hundred years. Everyone have a safe and enjoyable holiday. Please thank those you know that have served our country!
DO YOU HAVE A “SOCIAL DISTANCING PLAN”?
Last night, I received a pre-recorded message from a school official recommending families have a “social distancing plan” in place should the swine flu outbreak spread (this is just a random picture of an ugly pig-has nothing to do with swine flu).
I had never heard the term “social distancing plan” before. I’m always looking for new and creative ideas, so anytime I hear a term for the first time, I check to see if anyone has registered the domain name. I went to my www.GoDaddy.com account and quickly tried to register SocialDistancing.com. That domain name was taken, so next I tried SocialDistancingPlan.com. SocialDistancingPlan.com was still available, so I registered it for just under $8.
Why did I register the domain? Well, hopefully to make a good return on the $8. If the term gains traction and starts being used more often, more people will search for it online. My options then are to resell the domain name to someone that may build a website using the domain, build a mini-website myself for some advertising revenue, OR “park” the domain with a company that handles the advertising for me.
I chose to simply park the name with an online company appropriately named Parked.com. I then go into my account, edit the keywords and write some short descriptive text and I’m good to go. Now, I wait a few weeks as Parked.com does their thing, and hopefully the domain/website starts receiving traffic (more online viewers). As it receives more traffic, more and more people will click the ads. Parked.com will keep a portion of the ad revenue and they’ll pay me a bit as well. The amount each click is worth depends on how much the people advertising with Parked.com are willing to pay.
I’ll deal with making money online a bit more in future posts. I hope this gets you interested in how to succeed online and feel free to click “Got An Opinion” below if you have any questions!
DANNY GANS DIES AT 52 YEARS OLD
This post has nothing to do with Mankato, MN. I wanted to write a special post tonight about a man that had an amazing gift. Danny Gans was an entertainer that performed at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas until recently when he moved to the Encore/Wynn Hotel. The first time I heard of Danny Gans was when I was in Vegas in 2007. I was on the Strip only briefly, but I saw Danny Gans billboards and promotional signs everywhere (read on below video):
Then last year for my birthday, my wife and I went to Las Vegas together. A friend told us we “had to see Danny Gans” and that his show was incredible. We ended up seeing three shows in Vegas over the weekend trip last October. We saw Blue Man, Ka (Circ show) and Danny Gans. Blue Man was mediocre and we enjoyed Ka very much. Danny Gans was really special and we’ve been looking forward to seeing him again ever since last October.
Today’s news that Danny passed away is sad. He was a one-of-a-kind performer. He was witty, charming, funny and he did impersonations and sang songs that drew his crowds into the performance. My wife and I are BIG fans. I’m adding this promotional video from the Mirage (where we saw him perform). We feel blessed that we had the opportunity to see him perform. The video only offers a small taste of this gentleman’s talent-enjoy!
